27/05/2025 - Morning - 4hrs - Alex R & Mike K
After a bit of break it was good to get back down to see what the last session had achieved. We both agreed we'd not seen so much spoil generated by one round of holes before, completely hiding the dig. With only two of us it would be difficult to do any hauling, so the spoil was just cleared back to the foot of the ladder, and any loose rock chiselled out of the face. The amount of spoil meant this took over two hours. It's worth noting that the fragmentation of the spoil was just right.
Following this AR started drilling, and MK set to work further enlarging the rift between Echo Pot and the lowest ladder, with the aim of having enough space to mechanise this section of the haulage. At the face AR drilled two 16mm holes before the drill bit snapped. The remaining holes will be done at 12mm.
Both damp, chilly and hungry we called it a session.
Very interestingly it is now possible to see ahead about 5m. From the original line of the dig it now bends left then continues straight, rather than coming back right as we previously thought.
